I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit of a foundation hoarder. Maybe it's because I haven't found the perfect one, or maybe it's because I know there isn't one out there. Either way, I tend to buy foundations the most out of all my makeup products and I fully intend to keep on buying more of them in the future. And I couldn't help but show you the most recent additions to my collection (which reminds me I should make an updated foundation collection post in the future)!
Lately, I felt like my needs when it came to foundation had shifted. I'm not in uni at the moment, so there is no need for fuller coverage, but at the same time I want something long lasting and that will appear natural enough for work. It also needs to stay dewy but not oily, especially in my t-zone. A lot of contradictions and high expectactions for drugstore brand/prices, but I managed to bring in some new goodies for a reasonable price.
Starting with my favourite at the moment, the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in the shade 52. I already owned the regular Healthy Mix and I'm a big fan. I still believe Bourjois has one of the best colour selections for neutral undertones and fair complexions -- both products I own are a nearly ideal match. The serum version didn't disappoint me, if anything it impressed me even further. It doesn't have as much coverage as the regular version, but it leaves a very decent hint of coverage while looking dewy but not oily. And out of all the foundations I purchased this time around, this one was the only one that lasted a full work shift without making my t-zone oily!
Moving onto a highly anticipated purchase, the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in the shade 100. I've heard a lot of nice things about this foundation online, and even though this is the new version, I understand why it's so loved. The coverage is impressive for a drugstore foundation, but not full enough to turn cakey. It does get oilier throughout the day depending on the weather, but overall it's a really good foundation that I'll save for everyday or uni, but not so much work. The only shame is that the colour is slightly off . Just like in every other Rimmel foundation I own, the fairer shades are always a bit too dark and orange for me, but with a little bit of blending down the neck it gets the job done while avoiding foundation lines.
Finally comes my least favourite, the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream in the shade 32. Sadly, it's going to the back of the foundation drawer because I can't make the shade work, no matter how much blending I do! The formula isn't bad, I tried it on for a full day at work and although there isn't much coverage, it does hydrate the skin nicely and fades evenly. I just wished there was another shade I could have bought.
And that was all for my January hauls! I'm going to try and refrain from buying any more makeup in February, but knowing me that vow will probably be broken very soon. Hopefully I can get a hold of myself and only buy what I actually need, but we'll see!

DeleteReally interesting to hear your thoughts, particularly on the Bourjous Healthy Mix Serum. I don't have many foundations, as I prefer a light coverage. For day-to-day I just use my MAC MSF Natural with a buffing brush. I only own one drugstore foundation, the Healthy Mix Serum. I have to admit, it's put me off drugstore foundations a bit (which I know is really silly!). I love the coverage it gives & 51 is a great shade for me, but I just can't wear it without a primer! It lasts 2 hours max directly on my dry skin & if I'm honest I'd prefer to buy a high end foundation for the same price as a drugstore foundation & primer. I do definitely need to check other drugstore foundations out when I've used one or two of my current products up. I like the look of the L'Oreal Lumi foundations so will probably start there. Xx

Foundation is a very personal thing, which is why it's so interesting to me to hear other people's takes on them! I've personally never bought any expensive foundations since they're not in my budget at the moment, but I've always been curious about Mac foundations. If you prefer a light coverage, you could try and reach for the Revlon Colorstay (the dry skin formula). It's very buildable, so one light layer with the right tools will give you that light coverage, plus you can build it up for a special occasion or wherever you might need more coverage. It's also very long lasting, although I hardly ever wear a primer underneath my foundation (and when I do, it's more targeted towards moisturizing and reducing redness rather than extending the wear time of my foundation). I've also been meaning to try that one, but sadly I can't find my shade anywhere :( xx
